Ariana King is Senior Editor of FAR—NEAR and an MFA candidate in the Creative Writing Program at The New School, where she is working on a novel.

FAR—NEAR is an independent, annually published art book series that challenges Orientalist narratives of Asia through text, image, and idea. A founding editor of the series, Ariana contributes original writing and interviews, and oversees all text submissions.

Previously, Ariana was Senior Communications Coordinator at Columbia University’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute (WEAI), where she managed publicity. She also coordinated the Institute’s three publications series, collaborating with a variety of academic and trade presses to publish scholarly monographs and edited volumes.

Prior to joining Columbia, she reported breaking news as a staff writer at Nikkei, covering business, culture, and international politics while posted at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Beyond her resume and above all else, she is a writer, an eater, and a typically atypical native New Yorker.
