Ariana King is Senior Editor of FAR—NEAR, Senior Communications Coordinator at Columbia University’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute (WEAI), and an MFA candidate in Creative Writing with a concentration in fiction at The New School.

FAR—NEAR is an independent, annually published art book series that challenges Orientalist narratives of Asia through text, image, and idea. A founding editor of the series, Ariana contributes original writing and interviews, and oversees all text submissions.

At WEAI, Ariana leads publicity and PR for the Institute. She also coordinates the Institute’s publications series, collaborating with a variety of academic and trade presses to publish scholarly monographs and edited volumes.

Prior to joining Columbia, she reported breaking news as a staff writer at Nikkei, covering business, culture, and international politics while posted at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Beyond her resume and above all else, she is a writer, an eater, and a typically atypical native New Yorker.
